About the Artist SNAG is the brainchild of guitarist/vocalist Don Townsley and drummer/vocalist Steve Ritter. Both musicians began performing while still in elementary school, Don in Dallas and Steve in Oklahoma where his father and uncles had been lifelong musicians. In the late 70's Don worked in popular all original bands including "Lightning" and Austin-based "Too Smooth" and in several local cover bands. About the same time, Steve graduated from college and moved to Dallas to pursue his musical career, playing with the bands "Cafe" and "Triple Play" and dong studio commercial work. Later his songwriting and performance efforts earned him the distinction of being named one of the "Ten Best Unsigned Acts in America" by Musician Magazine. In 1986 Don and Steve met when they both joined the show band "Custom Made". They worked together on several projects over the following years, including forming "Isle of Lucy" to showcase their original tunes. It was at this time that! lyricist Mimi Ryan Balkey began her collaboration with Don and Steve. Mimi was a singer who worked with Steve in his band "Triple Play". She contributed lyrics to the Isle Of Lucy project and continues that contribution with SNAG. In 1987 Don's son Max Townsley was born. By the time the SNAG project was underway, Max had developed into a very talnted musician and his talents are highlighted on several songs on this CD.
